Childbirth

Anything No Comments

In the early days, women understood and accepted birthing as a part of life. Women delivered babies in the most familiar environment- the same place where the child was conceived.

When birthing was moved from home to hospital, a lot of knowledge about childbirth was lost. What took its place was fear of the unknown, and childbirth became associated with pain.

Today there are childhood preparation classes to hep expectant moms. However, there are some misconceptions about it-attitudes that stem from a misunderstanding of what these classed can offer.

Preparation for childbirth should be taken literally. It is not “natural birth,” “painless childbirth,” or drugless childbirth.” It is prepared childbirth. Couples-mother and father, mother and sister, mother and friend, mother and any partner of choice undergo formal training and practice techniques to better cope with the birth process. The ultimate objective is to have a healthy mother and baby.

Women who attend classed learn how to work with their body, rather than against it. The expectant mother’s body will nurture the baby throughout the pregnancy so she must learn to trust it, give it the right kind of food, stretch and exercise it to prepare for birth.
